Utmankhel & Dir Nawab

The faqir has, however, always nursed a grienvance against the nawab of Dir and with the dual object of reducing the nawab and attacking chakdara, he has now raised yet another lakhkar and also enlisted the support of alamzeb khan who was driven out of jandul by his brother, the  nawab of Dir a few years ago.

A Separate lashkar of shamozai Utmankhel has been attacking jandul from the south. The latest information, however, shows that shamozai Lashkar has returned home owing to the rumours that the nawab of Dir is about to invade their territory.

THE BOMBAY CHRONICLE  Vol XX NO 181

Bombay Friday July 29, 1932

The latest news across the border shows that peace and quiet prevail in tribal countries except for some firing on a party of tochi scouts near Durang line at the end of last month.

The Faqir of Alingar alterably failed to stir up trouble any where and his efforts to engineer an attack on the Nawab ol Dir have proved abortive. The Faqir recently planned an attack on the Nawab's Forts in Kiskinil and Darra and tried to hold a jirga of Shamozai Utmankhel for that purpose but the faqir’s plans entirely failed owing to the Luke warmness of the Shamozais. The faqir later moved into Salarzai country and also pushed to Pashat at the end of last month.

It is authoritatively stated that there is no chance of either the salarzai or shamozai Utmankhel joining the faqir in any of his escapades
